Dairy Farm Job In New Zealand

Dairy farm role (Farm Hand/Senior Farm Hand) on a large-scale farm milking 1,000 cows. Duties include milking, animal care, pasture management, machinery operation, and maintenance. FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

The farm is approximately 542ha effective area, with 390ha under pivot irrigation and 47ha under hard hose irrigation. This farm is currently milking 1,000 cows, through a 50 bail rotary shed with ACR’s, auto teat spray and auto draft via DeLaval herd management system. farm is 100% Spring calving beginning in mid-August.

This farm is 100% Spring calving beginning early to mid-August. The herd is mixed size with medium frame X-Bred cows. We run a two-herd system with an easy entry & exit system and the farm is predominantly pasture based with pellets fed in the dairy. Replacement heifers, plus a portion of dry cows, are grazing on an adjoining owned block.

Accommodation is available for the right candidate and there could be opportunities for employment for your partner on one of our nearby farms, if required.

This role will include tasks the areas of:

  • Driving and upholding Animal Health and Safe Operating Procedures.
  • All aspects of milking.
  • Animal husbandry.
  • Pasture management.
  • Machinery operation.
  • Repairs and maintenance.
